Jacob started the year looking to simply test a Formula 1600 car and do a single race weekend but that all changed after his first weekend of testing. Jacob entered the 2017 Formula Tour F1600 Championship with 4 days of testing and ended the season with 8 podiums and finished 3rd overall in points to secure the Rookie of the Year title.
Heading into the 2018 season Jacob is focused on winning the Formula Tour F1600 Championship to compete in the Mazda Road to Indy Scholarship shoot out at the end of the year. The $200,000 scholarship will help fund Jacob’s move to the next level in the USF2000 series.
In addition to the full Formula Tour F1600 Championship this coming season there are some key races Jacob will be focused on. First will be at the Montreal Formula 1 support races driving the F1600 car and then Jacob will make his debut in the USF2000 car racing at the Toronto Indy weekend. Then he will finish the year off with another race weekend in the USF2000 car at the Portland Indy.
